Rare Air Development LLC
Privacy policy
This site has no third-party analytics package, advertising network, or tracking cookie. Our own server keeps ordinary request logs so we can understand traffic and operate the site. The AI Ability Quiz uses one anonymous functional cookie so a taker can continue their quiz.
The short version
- The personal information we collect is what you type into a contact form and send us on purpose. We also store anonymous AI Ability Quiz answers.
- We analyze our own server request logs. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking. The quiz sets one functional cookie.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone.
- Email bob@rareairdevelopment.com and we will delete your information.
Who we are
Rare Air Development LLC is a software consultancy based in Richmond, Virginia, United States. We are the data controller for this site.
Contact: bob@rareairdevelopment.com. That address reaches a person, not a ticketing queue.
What the contact form collects
The contact and newsletter forms on this site submit to our own server. When you send one, we store exactly these fields:
- Name — whatever you type in the name field.
- Phone or email — the way you have asked us to reach you.
- Comment — the message you wrote, if you wrote one. On the newsletter form this is a fixed subscription note rather than anything you type.
- Which page you sent it from — so we know which version of the site you were looking at.
- The date and time of the submission.
That is the whole list. We do not store your IP address, browser, or referrer with the submission, and the form does not attach any hidden identifier to you.
Why we collect it
To reply to you, and to keep a record of the conversation. Sending the form is the request; we treat it as your consent to be contacted back about what you wrote.
Where it goes and how long we keep it
Submissions are written to a database on a server we rent from DigitalOcean, located in the United States. They are not forwarded to a CRM, a marketing platform, or any other third party.
We keep inquiries for as long as the business relationship or the possibility of one is live, and no longer than three years after the last contact. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.
How to have it removed
Email bob@rareairdevelopment.com and say so. We will delete the record and confirm. You do not have to explain why, and you do not need an account to ask.
What the AI Ability Quiz collects
The quiz stores each answer on our server as you submit it, including any text you enter after choosing Other. It also stores random identifiers for the in-progress attempt and its eventual public result. It does not store your name or contact information with the attempt.
A functional cookie containing a random session token lets the server find your in-progress attempt when you return. The cookie is restricted to the AI Ability Quiz, cannot be read by browser scripts, is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and expires after 30 days.
What we do not do
- No third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, and no tracking pixel. We analyze our own server request logs.
- No tracking cookies. The only cookie is the anonymous functional session used by the AI Ability Quiz.
- No advertising or profiling, and no automated decision-making about you.
- No sale or sharing of personal information with data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else.
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to lose.
The ROI estimator
The estimator on the homepage runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are never sent to our server, never stored, and never seen by us. Close the tab and they are gone.
Its output is an illustrative projection driven by the assumptions you choose. It is not a forecast, a quote, or a guarantee of results.
Server logs
Our server records one structured log entry for each request, including IP address, timestamp, requested path, HTTP method and status, response size and time, user agent, referrer, and a request ID. We use these logs to measure visits and user-agent traffic, troubleshoot problems, and prevent abuse. They are never combined with contact-form submissions to build a profile and are not shared with third parties except where we are legally required to.
Third parties
The site is intentionally close to self-contained. Two exceptions are worth naming plainly:
- Hosting. The site runs on a DigitalOcean server in the United States. DigitalOcean necessarily processes traffic to the site as our hosting provider.
- An optional 3D scene. A hidden easter egg on the design-gallery pages loads a graphics library from Cloudflare's cdnjs, which means that request shares your IP address with Cloudflare. It only loads if you deliberately add
?birds=1to the URL. Nothing on the main pages of the site does this.
Fonts, styles, and scripts on the pages you are likely to visit are served from our own server. No content is embedded from social networks, video hosts, or ad networks.
When you email us, we hold that message in our email provider's system the way any business does. Do not send confidential material by unencrypted email; ask us and we will arrange a better channel.
Children
This is a business-to-business site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to our using it. We honor all of those requests regardless of where you live, because the amount of data involved is small enough that there is no reason not to. Email bob@rareairdevelopment.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. We do not make quiet edits.
